Books You DNF’d | Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday is a book meme started by Lainey over at Ginger Reads Lainey. You can keep up with other T5W posts on the GoodReads page

My first Top 5 Wednesday and I’m starting on a sour note! Oops. I tend to not go with the hype on a lot of popular books, so please don’t be offended if one of your favorite books made it on to my list! I know I’m going to be shunned for the last two.

I’m not going to go into much detail for why I didn’t enjoy these books because it’ll just be repetitive.  I can definitely understand why people love these and why a few of them have a huge following, they just weren’t for me. Don’t shun me for the last two! Till next time.

  1. Okay girl, why did you DNF The Raven Boys? I haven't read it yet so I'm actually just curious, not trying to bite your head off. 😉 Also, I totally can see why you would choose to DNF An Ember in the Ashes.

  2. OKAY City of Bones, I can understand you DNFing it. Definitely.
BUT GIVE THE INFERNAL DEVICES A TRY. I swear, the first book, Clockwork Angel is SO GOOD, so much better than City of Bones!!

  3. I couldn't make a connection with any of the characters. Plus it was extremely slow. It took a little over half of the book for the plot to actually start happening, and by that time I felt like I was forcing myself to read a book I wasn't enjoying. The writing was absolutely beautiful, though, so I can definitely see why people are in love with the book.

  4. I really wish I loved TMI, but I just don't. I think I might try to read TID, though, because that story seems to interest me more. The Raven Boys is extremely slow, but it is beautifully written. I just unfortunately was already not enjoying the story by the time the plot started to happen and didn't want to force myself to read it.

  5. I can see why you DNF'd City of Bones. I didn't like it when I read it, but I kept on with the series. It's not my favorite (I'm on the fifth book), but it did get better. Great list! Here is my TTT if you want to check it out1! 😀

  6. Oh man, City of Bones took me ages to get through. I couldn't handle reading it so I listened to the audiobook. Like above, I do recommend the Infernal Devices. I read them before jumping into TMI and I actually enjoy them a lot more!

  7. I got through City of Bones (mostly because I had seen the movie prior) but I jumped the ship on the 2nd (or was it the 3rd?) book, so I totally understand you!!

    1. I didn’t connect with the characters or the storyline. It took so long for the story to even happen and I was already bored by it. I might try and pick it up again in the future.
